We liked the idea of a library because of its accessible and archival nature. But, because of their vastness digital archives tend to lack a navigational starting point. Instead of just aggregating inspiration we cataloged the inspiration by the person who recommended it. If you were a fan of a musician you could see the things that had inspired them throughout their career.
The Publik Library is made up of dozens of Library Cards. Each Library Card is an amalgamation of things (books, films, videos, art, lectures, places, and people) curated by a different creative. The Library contains cards created by visual artists, designers, musicians, chefs, photographers, film makers and everything in between.
We used Instagram as a way to highlight individual things creatives had selected for their library cards a couple of times a week.
To bring to life the information that’s housed in the Publik Library we decided to organize a series of live-streamed virtual talks called the Book Fair. For each volume of the Book Fair we commissioned a different artist to collaborate with us to create its visual identity. For the first volume we worked with 3D artist & animator Zuheng Yin.
For the Book Fair Vol.02 we collaborated with artist & illustrator George F. Baker III to create a world out of the Publik Library.
